The Rio Grande Art Association (RGAA) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of fine art in New Mexico. Traditional, classic, contemporary, or avant-garde artists in all media at all levels and art enthusiasts are welcome!  Our focus is on creativity, originality, and the development of personal expression!

Membership Signup / Information

Our monthly educational programs are held on the third Saturday of each month (except July and December) at UNM Continuing Education Conference Center, 634 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131. Guests are welcome!


RGAA Program Presenter Proposal

Do you have a skill you'd like to teach our creative community?

RGAA is seeking presenters for our educational programs (90 minutes) and artists for drawing lessons (15 minutes) at our monthly meetings, which are on the third Saturday of each month from 9 am to noon. Each educational program presenter receives a $150 honorarium if driving within a 75-mile radius of Albuquerque (or providing presentations by Zoom) or $200 if driving beyond that limit. Each drawing instructor receives a $25 honorarium. Additionally, RGAA will promote each presenter through newsletter, website, email, and social media announcements.

Exhibition Open to the Public: Saturday, November 7 – Sunday, November 29, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Exhibition Closed: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thanksgiving

Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony: Friday November 6, 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Deadline for entry submission is September 11, 5 pm.

Creativity: Where do Ideas Come From?

The work of an artist, especially, should be creative not repetitive. Creativity, the most intangible of human qualities, is suppressed by our living within artificial constraints and with a developed fear of disappointment and failure. During this presentation, Fred Yost will describe stages of the creative process and methods for generating ideas for your artwork.  Fred is an Albuquerque artist whose work spans painting, printmaking, calligraphy, and handmade paper, reflecting decades of creative exploration and experimentation.
