Virginia Baich
Convergence
Virginia Baich is a contemporary artist whose mixed-media practice explores connections between the cosmic and quantum worlds, investigating patterns, relationships, and the origins of the universe. During this presentation, she explores the convergence of quantum and cosmic scales—the microscopic realm of particles and the vast expanses of planets, stars, and galaxies—revealing patterns and relationships that connect these seemingly disparate worlds. She traces the evolution of her artistic practice, beginning with encaustic landscape paintings that investigate light, atmosphere, and the changing conditions of the natural world. These early explorations lead to more recent work examining connections between the visible universe and the unseen quantum realm. Through her paintings, Baich considers how recurring themes, material explorations, and visual inquiries evolve over time, opening new directions within an established practice. Her work investigates the connections between landscape and cosmos, the visible and invisible, and the microscopic and immense through patterns of energy, movement, and transformation. She holds an M.F.A. from UCLA and a B.F.A. from USC, Los Angeles. WEBSITE
